AGM – Squire’s notes
Hi all,
One of the joys of being in any Morris side is the great tradition of the AGM. For the most part this consists of
- discussing current and past events
- beer
- discussing future events
- beer
- debating the kit
- lots of beer
- election of office bearers
- lots more beer
- go home/fall over.
Our AGM adheres to a strict date schedule, occurring on the first available weekend in May. So in our typically pedantic and meticulous fashion, this years meeting was conducted on Thursday the 18th of June.
The details are a bit sketchy, but after a heartfelt discussion about the merits of recruiting, and whilst tussling with the practicalities of stretching before practice, I may have volunteered to become squire again. In the confusion, Geoff thought that someone was offering us a beer, and accidentally put his hand up to be foreman. Greg and Matt failed to jump backwards fast enough, and got elected joint bagmen.
Thanks must go to the outgoing squire (Dave) for all his hard work. We also admire his deft and skillful footwork, in avoiding the job for third year running.
We are all looking forward to integrating recruitment into all our upcoming events. Which include another tour of England.
